Feature Extraction as a web service - wah?
One of the highlights of NEMISIG was the unveiling of the new EchoNest music analysis web service. You give the web service an MP3 file, and it returns a big wad of XML filled with all sorts of interesting things that can be derived from the music. For instance, if you wanted to fill out that Beats-per-minute field for each track in iTunes, you could upload your tracks to the web service and extract the <tempo> field from the returned XML.
